Four members of the Territorial Army – a pro-government militia – were killed in a Taliban attack in the central Daikundi province and a roadside bomb killed an acting police chief in the southern Ghazni province, according to local officials.
Talking to Kabul Now, Mohammad Ali Urozgani, Daikundi’s deputy governor, said that the Taliban launched an attack on Tuesday, March 09, around 01:00 AM in Patoo district of Daikundi, killing four security forces and wounding two others.
He added that the attack was repelled after an hours-long clash between security forces and the Taliban. The area is currently under the control of pro-government forces, he said.
He, however, did not provide details about Taliban casualty.
The Taliban have not commented in this regard so far.
Daikundi is a relatively secure province but some of its districts, mainly Patoo and Kijran, come under sporadic Taliban attacks.
On the other hand, Sardar Wali Tabassum, the spokesperson for Ghazni Police Chief confirmed to Kabul Now that Abdul Rahman Fateh, the acting police chief of Dehyak district, was killed in a roadside bomb blast in Tasang area of the district. He added that the incident took place yesterday, Monday, March 08.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying that four police forces were killed and three others wounded in the blast.
Many local police commanders have lost their lives to the Taliban planted roadside bombs since the beginning of the ongoing solar year in Ghazni province.
