Farah's customs catches fire

Farah customs catches “massive” fire for second time in two weeks

A “massive” fire has erupted in Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi Customs of the western Farah province said Farah governor, Taj Mohammad Jahid. He said there was no fire fighting facilities to stop the massive blaze.

Describing the fire eruption as “massive”, the governor added that he will ask the Iranian government to stop the fire. Footages of the fire shared on social media show a massive fire and a thick column of smoke in the air.

He, however, did not provide details on why and how the fire erupted in Farah’s customs.

This is the second fire eruption in the province in two weeks and the third in western Afghanistan in less than a month.

On February 14, a massive fire erupted in the Islam Qala border town in western Herat inflicting an estimated 100 million USD loss on Afghan traders.

During his visit to Herat, Khan Jan Alokozai, deputy head of the country’s Chamber of Commerce and Investment, stressed the need to install firefighting facilities at the country’s customs and ports.
