A Taliban truck bombing leaves 15 dead and 66 wounded in Zabul

As many as 15 people were killed and 66 others wounded after a Taliban truck packed with explosive went off at the entry of Zabul provincial hospital in Qalat, the capital of Zabul province, officials confirmed.

The incident took place around 05:50 AM this morning, September 19.

Gul Islam Sayal, spokesperson for Zabul governor, told Kabul Now that all victims were civilians, including women and children.

The wounded people are reported to be in critical condition and some of them were taken to Kandahar city for treatment.

According to the local official, a major part of the hospital building has been destroyed as the result of the powerful explosion.

Meanwhile, Nasrat Rahimi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, confirmed that 15 people including two police men were killed and 66 civilians including women and children were wounded.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. A Taliban spokesperson said that the group have targeted the provincial office of Afghanistan National Directorate of Security (NDS), the country’s intelligence agency.
