KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) says two Taliban members were killed and another wounded in an attack carried out by its forces in northern Afghanistan.
In a statement, the group said the attack targeted the Taliban military vehicle at around 6:00 p.m. on Sunday (February 15) on the “Chaharparah” road in Police District 1 of Kunduz city.
The AFF did not provide further details about the incident or whether its own fighters suffered any casualties.
Local Taliban officials in Kunduz have not yet commented on the claim.
The Afghanistan Freedom Front has previously reported carrying out several attacks against Taliban forces in Kunduz province.
While Taliban authorities often deny or do not confirm such incidents, the United Nations has in some cases verified attacks carried out by armed opposition groups against Taliban forces.
Two months ago, on January 1, the Afghanistan Freedom Front claimed responsibility for an explosion at the Taliban court compound in Maimana, the capital of Faryab province. The group said it targeted the court with a rocket attack, claiming four Taliban members were killed and two wounded. However, local sources reported that the blast was caused by an explosive device planted in a rubbish bin, injuring only one Taliban member and damaging a Taliban ranger vehicle. Taliban officials in Faryab have not commented on the incident.
