KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF), an armed anti-Taliban group, claims its forces killed three Taliban members and wounded two others in an attack on Bagram Airfield, north of Kabul.
In a statement, the group said the attack took place on Saturday evening at the fourth gate of Bagram Airfield.
AFF did not disclose whether it suffered any casualties.
Taliban officials in Parwan have not yet commented on the incident.
The AFF, led by General Yasin Zia, former Chief of Staff of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF), was formed after the Taliban’s return to power in 2021.
Comprised largely of former ANDSF personnel, the group has carried out multiple attacks against the Taliban, particularly in Panjshir, Kabul, Balkh, and surrounding areas.
In his latest quarterly report on Afghanistan, UN Secretary-General António Guterres documented 18 verified AFF attacks on Taliban forces over a three-month period. He noted that most occurred in Kabul, as well as in the western and northern regions.
