KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF), an anti-Taliban armed group, has claimed that its forces killed four Taliban forces and injured one others in an attack in the capital Kabul.
In a statement, AFF said that the attack took place on Saturday night when its forces opened gunfire on a Taliban convoy belonging to the group’s Ministry of Interior in Police District 4th.
The AFF indicated that none of its forces were harmed in the attack.
The Taliban has not yet commented.
Since the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan, various opposition armed groups have emerged, with some still actively fighting the Taliban in multiple provinces. The Afghanistan Freedom Front and the National Resistance Front have been notably active, particularly in Kabul and the northern regions of the country.
Both groups, composed largely of former security forces, have engaged in numerous clashes with the Taliban. Recently, they have intensified their guerrilla attacks against the Taliban across Afghanistan.
In the past months, the groups have claimed to have killed and injured dozens of Taliban members in Kabul, Parwan, Baghlan, Kunduz, and Badakhshan provinces.
