Two Taliban men killed while attempting to rape a girl in Takhar

Two Taliban members, who attempted to rape a girl, were killed by the girl’s father in a bid to defend her daughter, said local sources in the northeastern Takhar province.

The sources stated that the Taliban gunmen charged into a home in Qareldi village in Khwaja Bahauddin district on Thursday night trying to sexually assault a girl, but the girl’s father, Qader, managed to seize one of their weapons and opened fire at them.

As a result of the shooting, one of the Taliban gunmen was killed on the spot and the other was severely wounded who later succumbed to his injuries after being taken to a hospital.

According to the sources, one of the Taliban men also managed to fire back, killing Qader’s 22-year-old son.

Later, local Taliban authorities detained Qader’s other son on charges of murdering the two Taliban men, whom the sources claimed were soldiers affiliated to a Taliban’s local commander known as Mawlawi Tahir.

Meanwhile, Qader, sources said, is occupied with the funeral of his deceased son and his fate remains uncertain.

Taliban authorities in the province have not commented on the matter.
