Taliban accused of killing a former police officer in Takhar province

Local sources have accused the Taliban of killing a former police officer in Taloqan, the capital of northeastern Takhar province.

One source told KabulNow that Taliban’s Uzbek fighters opened gunfire at the officer, identified as Mohammadullah, on Friday around 10:40 am when he was in his home in Khwaja Mukhtar village.

The former police officer worked as a farmer following the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, the source added.

However, the Taliban’s media head in the province has denied any involvement in the killing.

During the last two years, the Taliban has been widely accused of arrest, torture, and extrajudicial killing of former members of Afghan security forces despite the group’s claim for “general amnesty”.
