Tens of local residents took to the streets in Ferzokoh, the capital city of the central Ghor province, today, March 09, to protest against insecurity in the province. They called on the incumbent governor, Noor Mohammad Kuhnaward, to step down.
Chanting slogans against the governor, the protesters accused him of incompetency to ensure security and contain the poverty in the province.
The protest will be continued until President Ghani removes the governor, Hassan Hakimi, a protest organizer told Kabul Now. He added that insecurity has prevailed in the central province since Kuhnaward was appointed as governor, adding that the governor is not capable of managing the affairs.
The governor, however, said that the protesters are those who are against his reform program in the rank of security forces in the province.
On the other hand, a number of other local residents set up a sit-in tent in support of the governor. They claim that the protest is a conspiracy against Kuhnaward whom they say is a competent governor in Ghor.
These protests come amid increased deadly violence in the province mainly after three family members of Besmillah Adel, were killed by unknown gunmen in their house.
Aimaq was assassinated by unknown gunmen earlier in January.
