Afghan Citizen Killed in Shooting by Iranian Security Forces

The news agency Halvash has reported that an Afghan citizen was killed after Iranian security forces opened fire on his vehicle in Zarabad district of Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province.

According to the report, Iranian police fired at the vehicle during a pursuit on Thursday evening (25December), striking the man with several bullets and killing him at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Ghadir, an Afghan national aged around 55. Halvash said he was married, had five children, and had been living in Zarabad district.

The reason for the shooting remains unclear, and Iranian authorities have not yet commented on the incident. No official statement has been issued by Iranian media or security officials so far.

In recent months, several Afghan citizens have been killed in shootings involving Iranian security forces, particularly in border areas.

About a month ago, at least 10 Afghan nationals were killed in gunfire by Iranian border guards near the border with Afghanistan’s Farah province. The Taliban authorities called for an investigation into the incident, but no findings have been publicly released.
