Two Taliban fighters and five Pakistani border guards killed in Paktika border clash

Local sources in the eastern province of Paktika say that two Taliban fighters and five Pakistani border guards have been killed in a cross-border clash.

A source told KabulNow that the two sides engaged in a firefight on Sunday night in the Barmal district of the province. Four Taliban fighters were injured, the source added.

One of the dead Taliban fighters is believed to be a locally well-known commander known as Sibghatullah Takal.

The cause of the clash is unknown, and neither side has commented.

Since the Taliban’s return to power in August 2021, the group’s forces have been involved in deadly clashes with Pakistani and Iranian border guards.
