Two people drowned while swimming in two separate incidents in the northeastern Badakhshan province and southern Paktika province on Thursday.
In Badakhshan, a teenage boy, identified as Mushafaqullah, drowned in the Wurduj district, Taliban officials said. His body has not been found yet.
Mushafaqullah hailed from the Deh Naw village of the Khash district and was picnicking in the Wurduj district.
In Paktika, a child drowned and another was critically injured while swimming in the Band-e-Sarda River. The injured child was taken to a local hospital.
Local sources told KabulNow that both children hailed from the Yahya Khel district.
On Thursday, four children also drowned while swimming in the Shahjoy district of the southern Zabul province.
