Taliban detains former jihadi commander in Panjshir

Sources in northeastern Panjshir province told KabulNow that the Taliban detained a former jihadi commander named Shah Mohmood from the Abshar district on Tuesday.

According to the source, this former commander had no government duties over the past twenty years, was unemployed for more than one and a half years, and had no involvement with any military opposition against the Taliban.

The reason for his arrest remains unclear, and the Taliban have yet to provide any information regarding the motive behind it.

Panjshir Province has been the center of a conflict between the National Resistance Front and the Taliban for over a year and a half. During this time, the Taliban have detained numerous former soldiers and civilians, accusing them of collaborating with the armed front or possessing weapons.
