Massive fire left seven dead and 15 wounded in Kabul

At least seven people lost their lives and 14 others were injured after a massive fire erupted in the northern entry gate of the capital Kabul late Saturday evening, an official said today, Sunday, May 02.

Tariq Arian, the spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (MoI), said the incident took place around 9:00 PM last night in Karizmir area of Shakar Dara district.

The fire erupted after an oil tanker exploded. Several oil tankers caught fire following the explosion.

Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, the country’s power supply company, said that a 220 KV power transmission line was cut as a result of the explosion.

Efforts are underway to rebuild the power line.

A number of drivers who suffered injuries in the incident have protested on the Kabul-Mazar highway, blocking the country’s ring road that connects the Afghan capital to the northern parts of Afghanistan.
