US with support of Qatari agencies provides study ground for AUAF students in Qatar

Karen Decker, Chargé d’Affaires at the US Mission to Afghanistan based in Qatar, has announced the provision of study facilities for students of the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) in Doha, Qatar.

In a post on X on Friday, Decker stated that she was “humbled to welcome 200 inspiring young students from Afghanistan to AUAF’s Doha Campus.”

Decker said that the people of Afghanistan need access to modern education to help build a modern Afghanistan. She thanked the Qatar Foundation and the Qatar Fund for Development for their support of the students in Doha.

The American University of Afghanistan was founded in 2006 in Kabul, Afghanistan. It offered post-secondary education, from university preparation to graduate and professional training programs, providing modern, global standard education to its students.

The Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in August 2021 forced the closure of the AUAF and many other private universities in the country. Thousands of students, including those from AUAF, fled the country to neighboring or other countries in search of safety.

The AUAF, which has set up a campus in Doha, Qatar, with the support of the Qatar Foundation and other agencies, has been providing online classes for its students since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan.
