Traffic accident in Faryab province kills two and wounds three

A traffic accident in the Bandar district of northern Faryab province on Sunday killed two people and wounded three others. A coach diverted from the road and overturned, according to local sources.

A Taliban member and a woman are reported to be the two people killed in the crash.

A woman and a Taliban member, identified as Zia ul-Haq, were among those who lost their lives. The injured were all men.

The accident occurred in the district’s Talib Jar area, which was recently renamed by the Taliban.

Shamsullah Mohammadi, the Taliban’s head of the information and culture department in the province, said the accident was due to poor road conditions.

In addition to poor road infrastructure, drivers’ negligence and non-compliance with driving regulations are also contributing factors to traffic accidents in Afghanistan.
