Taliban and Pakistani border forces exchange fire in Paktia province

According to locals in the eastern province of Paktia, Taliban and Pakistani forces exchanged cross-border fires on Monday in the Adeh Angor area of the province, near the Durand Line.

Clashes broke out after travellers entering Pakistan from Afghanistan were reportedly mistreated by the Pakistani authorities. At least one Afghan citizen, according to a source, was injured. It is not clear if anyone was harmed across the border.

Local Taliban and Pakistan border officials have not commented on the incident.

The border clashes coincided with a visit by the Taliban’s 203-Mansoori corps to the group’s military bases along the Durand Line in the area.

Since returning to power in Afghanistan in August 2021, Taliban forces have clashed with Pakistani and Iranian border forces on multiple occasions.
