The Delegation of the European Union to Afghanistan officials and the World Bank’s Country Director for Afghanistan, Melinda Good, met with businessmen and women from Afghanistan on Saturday “to know the challenges and expectations of the private sector in Afghanistan.”
A recent World Bank report on the state of the Afghan economy revealed that country had a “positive” economic balance, with inflation falling to 9.1% in November 2022 from its peak of 18.3% in July, and exports rising to $1.7 billion.
According to the UN, 97% of Afghanistan’s population live under poverty, 28 million of whom are dependent humanitarian aid and 6 million on the verge of famine.
