A young girl has committed suicide in the eastern Nangarhar province after her family engaged the girl to a man without her consent, local sources confirmed.
The girl committed suicide last night, November 21, using a Kalashnikov rifle in the 6th district of Jalalabad, the capital city of Nangarhar province, said a source asking not to be named.
Meanwhile, the source added that the girl’s family has already claimed that she has died of a heart attack.
Local Taliban authorities, however, have not commented regarding the incident.
Forced marriage, domestic violence, and psychological problems are said to be the major factors behind most of the suicide cases in Afghanistan.
