Two security forces killed in Faryab

Two security forces were killed and two others wounded as the result of the Taliban attack in Shirin Tagab district of Faryab province, a security source confirmed.

Abdul Karim Youresh, the spokesperson for Faryab police, said that the Taliban launched an attack last night, on February 21, killing two security forces and wounding two others in the attack.

He claimed that four Taliban militants were killed including a senior member of the Taliban Red Unit and two others wounded in the clashes.

A surge in Taliban violence has intensified across the country.

On January 11, four civilians were killed and nine others wounded in a Taliban mortar shelling in the northern Faryab.

Located in the northern part of the country, Faryab is an insecure province where Taliban fighters are present.
