Etilaat Roz screened at Munich International Documentary Film Festival

The 38th Munich International Documentary Film Festival has opened with a screening of “Etilaat Roz”, a documentary by Abbass Rezaie, which chronicles the aftermath of Kabul’s fall to the Taliban for a team of journalists at the daily Etilaat Roz newspaper.

The film is one of 130 documentaries from 55 countries featured in the festival.

While the film is not nominated for an award, it has already garnered critical acclaim and received recognition at several international film festivals.

It won the World Organization Against Torture (OMCT) award at the International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights (FIDFH) in Geneva and the best first feature film award at the Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival (IDFA) in November 2022.

“Etilaat Roz” offers an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at the day-to-day struggles of journalists covering Afghanistan’s rapid political changes, including the eventual takeover by the Taliban, from inside the offices of Etilaat Roz / KabulNow newspaper.

The documentary has been so far premiered in several international film festivals in Asia, Europe, and America.
