Recent earthquake destroyed over 160 houses in Parwan province, Taliban says

Taliban officials in Parwan province has said that the recent earthquake which occurred on March 22 struck six districts of the province, resulting in the destruction of over 160 residential houses. 

According to the local Taliban officials, 11 people were injured and more than 100 houses were destroyed in Sayed Khel district alone. 

The epicenter of the earthquake was located in North-eastern Badakhshan province, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The quake had a depth of 187.6 km and occurred on March 22 around 9:20 PM local time. 

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre said the quake was felt in Pakistan, India, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) reported that the earthquake killed 5 people, injured 58 and destroyed 665 houses in Afghanistan.
