NRF attack in Panjshir

Taliban’s Outpost Comes Under NRF Attack in Panjshir

Local sources confirmed to Kabul Now that fighters of the National Resistance Front (NRF) have attacked a Taliban outpost in the Hesse Awal district of the northeastern Panjshir province.

The NRF fighters started their attack on the outpost last night at around 12:00 AM in the Amraz village of Hesse Awal district, the sources detailed.

The Taliban have turned the residential house of Marshal Fahim, a former vice president and prominent anti-Taliban Mujahideen commander, into a security outpost in the village.

A source said the NRF fighters started shelling the Taliban’s outpost with BM1 from the mountain overlooking the outpost. Later, the source detailed that NRF fighters targeted the Taliban outpost with light and heavy weapons.

According to the source, the Taliban side seems to have suffered some casualties, with the attack lasting several hours. The NRF fighters have not suffered casualties, the source adds.

Taliban local authorities in Panjshir have not commented regarding the attack so far.

NRF is a militia group formed of former security forces currently under the leadership of Ahmad Masoud — son of Ahmad Shah Massoud — the former Jihadi commander.

The NRF has challenged the Taliban forces in deadly battles in several provinces, including Panjshir, Baghlan, Takhar, and Badakhshan provinces, many times since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan in 2021.
