Residents of Paktia Protest Over Border Clashes

Following the clashes between the Taliban and the Pakistani forces in the border area of ​​the Dand-e-Patan district of the eastern province of Paktia, a number of residents of this province protested against Pakistan.

They chanted slogans against Pakistan today November 22 during their rally near the Durand Line.

A local source through the audio message sent to Kabul Now, says that during the clash between the Pakistani forces and the Taliban, hundreds of families have been displaced from their homes.

The clash has stopped now but there is a possibility that it will start again, the source added.

It is said that the Taliban want to connect the Dand-e-Patan district road with the border district of Zazai Aryoub but Pakistan is against this plan.

Yesterday, a delegation from the Taliban’s Ministry of Defense travelled to the Dand-e-Patan district and met with Pakistani forces to resolve the tension but it is reported that the talks ended without results. This week, at least three clashes between the Taliban and Pakistani border guards near the Durand Line in the Dand-e-Patan district of Paktia have been reported. These clashes reportedly have had casualties from both sides and the local residents have been mainly affected.
