Afghans donate worth 662 million afghanis for education

Residents of 20 provinces in Afghanistan have collected a total of over 662 million afghanis in the first half of this year (1398), the Ministry of Education (MoE) said in a statement issued today, October 26.

According to the statement, the donation includes over 370 acres land, repairing school buildings, providing education materials and in cash assistance collected by local councils of schools.

The provinces where the people have collected donation for education in the country are namely Khost, Daikundi, Kapisa, Maidan Wardak, Sar-e-Pul, Bamyan, Panjshir, Samangan, Badghis, Kandahar, Balkh, Nimroz, Kabul, Helmand, Jowzjan, Logar, Herat, Paktia, and Paktika provinces.

“These donations provided by education lovers in cooperation with councils of schools have been spent transparently under surveillance of the assistance providers,” part of the statement read.

The MoE has named 1397 to 1409 year (Persian calendar) as education decade in a bid to resolve all problems in education sector of the country.

The ministry has urged the nation to take part in improving education services and enroll Afghan children in schools.

Afghanistan is a country where literacy is low.
