A 42-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the Mardyan district of northern Jowzjan province on Sunday, officials said.
Abdul Sattar Halimi, Taliban’s security spokesperson in the province, said that the man took his life by hanging himself with a rope tied around his neck.
The cause of the man’s death is yet to be known, but police have begun a probe into this, he added.
Local witnesses in the district told that the deceased, identified as Mohammad Ebrahim, originally hailed from the district’s Jungle Arigh Muhajir village.
The cause of his death could be “family problems”, local witnesses noted.
